Raymond Warren – President of the Bristol Music Club

The disc contains almost all of Raymond Warren’s baritone songs, from the early cycle Spring 1948.

Written when he was still studying with Michael Tippett, to the recent group The Coming, which finishes with a setting of Rowan Williams’ Advent Calendar.

The disc takes its title from the biggest of the cycles, settings of poems by Yeats written for Thomas Hemsley in 1968.There are also arrangements of children’s songs and of Irish folk songs.

The performers are the distinguished Welsh baritone Jeremy Huw Williams with Nigel Foster at the piano. The CD is issued on the Kissan label number LCP 002
